Amdas ensures that it is up to date with the latest employment legislation through a variety of connections. These include REC membership (the recruitment sector’s representative body), our associate partner a senior HR Consultant, alerts from specified media sources and our ongoing relationship with the government department for “Business Innovation and Skills” with whom we acted as consultants on the implementation of the The Agency Workers Regulations (AWR). Following this, our Director Daniel Malkoun has been elected to a government consulting panel on evolving employment legislation.
AWR
AWR was implemented in the UK on October 1st 2011. The purpose of the regulations is to provide temporary workers with equal treatment in terms of basic working and employment conditions as if they had been employed directly to do the same job. The rights will apply after a 12 week qualifying period.
We have advised on clarifying the wording and provided opinion on the impact of aspects of the legislation to agencies and hirers and we hosted a number of seminars prior to October 1st deadline to advise clients on best practice and how to prepare for adopting the working practices, ensuring compliance whilst mitigating business risk.
